City Planning Researcher

Location :

London

We are seeking a city planning researcher to support our design team in London on a part-time freelance basis, with a research focus on new towns, particularly in Saudi Arabia. The role involves building a body of reference material that informs our master planning work: assembling case studies of historic and contemporary new town developments, analysing their planning models, densities and phasing strategies, and reviewing the policy context shaping urban development in the Kingdom.

  • Currently studying towards, or recently completed, a degree in urban planning, urban design, architecture, geography or a related discipline

  • Demonstrable research ability, including the capacity to work independently, structure a line of enquiry and synthesise material from a wide range of sources

  • Strong written English and the ability to communicate research findings clearly and concisely

  • An interest in urbanism, master planning and the development of new towns

  • Familiarity with Saudi Arabia's urban development context, including Vision 2030 and its associated giga-projects, is beneficial

  • Fluency in Arabic is advantageous

We are open to a part-time freelancer role based in London
